[makoto cracks a smile, managing to keep his laughter in--it's one of the fond ones, reserved for just rin (and the cats). with a twist of his wrist, makoto holds onto rin's hand, light and firm, because he honestly needs no more evidence that rin's heart beats crazy for him.]
Don't leave, please.
[he asks, pleads, softly, for all his loud laughing previously.]
You're messing with my heart, Rin.
[because perhaps rin needs to also realise that despite makoto's cool-and-collected exterior, his heart is also running wild; makoto leans down, bringing rin's hand to press against makoto's chest, and giving makoto--by position--enough of an opportunity to kiss the wry curves of frustration out of rin's lips. soft and light are the kisses makoto delivers.]
Close your eyes. [he instructs, because the point of rin coming over was that makoto would help him to sleep. rin averting his eyes like this was not helpful. makoto presses his forehead to rin's, in their usual way of showing support.] Let me make it up to you like I promised, for coming all the way here when I called.
[the pout on his lips is kissed away with patience and affection, and through he grumbles, he can't help but melt under the press of foreheads. not that Rin ever quite does what he's told -- eyes flicker up instead of closed, oddly intense, showing much more devotion than the huffing and twisting of a few seconds prior. his fingers curl on Makoto's chest, and if he wanes in short order, he waxes as quickly, the whole of himself given at a moment's notice]
[and so it is at length;]
Fine.
[begrudging, but a little hopeless, too -- he can't quite deny Makoto, in soft moments like these, no matter how ruffled his feathers. he closes his eyes, and his mouth almost instantly curves into a smile at the corners. it's harder and harder to hide anything from Makoto, least of all his feelings]
Make it up to me, already, Tachibana.
[(he's already been paid in full, really -- it's enough to be able to affect Makoto so deeply, to "mess with his heart")]
[halfway atop the other, makoto smiles wider at rin giving in and closing his eyes. he's even cuter, makoto thinks, when he smiles like that. it's probably impressive if he stopped to think about it; how easy it is for them to feel comfortable and safe with one another at this point.]
[makoto, gently, starts brushing rin's hair back; hopefully a calming motion rather than an annoying one.]
[silence prevails for a while, makoto taking his time in staring at his boyfriend's face]
[times like this, quiet ones, makoto can appreciate not only the physical perks of having a boyfriend that looks after himself so much, but of a boyfriend that just exudes confidence and, therefore, handsomeness. it strikes makoto how lucky he is.]
Rin. [... maybe he fell asleep?] I love you.
[ah, the flush on rin's face shows that maybe he is not quite asleep. alright.]
I'm really glad I can say that I love you so openly. It's just three words, but I feel like my chest could burst if I couldn't say them...
[if Rin was rosy-cheeked to begin with, now he's about as bright as the whole damn garden; his eyes scrunch up, cheeks puffing just a bit. he doesn't want to open his eyes, now -- it's already too much, hearing things like that. if he sees the visual of Makoto looking as loving as he sounds, he might just blow a fuse]
-- When would I say n-no!
[well, he has, but mostly because of swimming or school work swimming or bickering or swimming -- and that's less of a 'no' and more of a 'later,' honestly]
I love you too, ch... i-if you like saying it so much, you can say it whenever...
[it's not like he'd love hearing it, his overly huffy face says]
[unable to simply lay in calm and wait, Rin wraps his arms around Makoto tighter, drawing him close for that kiss]
[he ends his words with a laugh, stammered onto him by rin's arms wrapping around him, a tight hold makoto's grown very used to at this point. he laughs quietly, and tries to stop abruptly with his giggling, and keeps his balance with a hand pressed heavily onto the mattress, causing a dip to the side.]
For someone who seemed to want to get back to sleep, isn't your hold too strong...?
[it's flattering, in a way.]
[but makoto leans in, relents, kissing rin as promised. it's not about having the upperhand at all (it's never been about that); it's just that rin's always been warm and bright, not so much like the sun, but a star--nacreous, burning, leaving a dent in the darkest of skies no matter when was the last time he was around. it causes makoto a desire to want to hold on for all that he can, like this is all he can do, because rin's always on the move, ephemeral on the place where he stands now--heading off to other places with no fear nor demands other than his own.]
[he stalls in the kiss, a paused and soft one, between hums and shifts. makoto moves closer, back hunched as he sits over rin's thighs, as he wraps a hand around one of rin's wrists--holding on, a deliberate attempt to entwine their fingers together (a quiet indication that makoto won't be the one to let go, no matter the difficulties that may come).]
[sometimes makoto wonders if their 'i love you's are in any way meaningful, young as they are, stuck as they are. but it feels good. being with rin feels good. that much he knows that he knows, even if everything else were to become uncertain.]

Do you mind if I kissed you?
[??asking for permission??]
